Women entrepreneurs use smart thinking to fight recession

New research suggests that women entrepreneurs are facing the recession more positively than male counterparts, thanks to their use of innovative and flexible ways to avoid debt and reduce overheads.  Two-thirds of men report worries about the current economic environment, compared to just over half of women, with 50% of men also voicing greater concerns about cashflow compared to 40% women.  The report by Delta Economics, commisioned by the Women’s Enterprise Task Force (WETF), reinforces recent claims that women are not currently being disproportionately affected by the economic downturn compared to their male counterparts.  However, the negative impact on women as employees and business owners is likely to increase if temporary, part-time and vulnerable employment, as well as the personal services and catering/retail sectors, perform as predicted.  WETF calls for recognition of women’s enterprise as an enabler for economic recovery, and urges both the public and private sectors to provide clearly targeted support through access to finance and procurement opportunities.  Find out more at http://www.womensenterprisetaskforce.co.uk/wetf_recession_research.html
