Emmanuel Codjoe
Emmanuel Codjoe is a WES contributor and currently a Senior Teaching Fellow in Economics, Department of Economics, SOAS University of London. His current recent research interests has been on exploring the activities of foreign firms in Ghana's manufacturing sector. More specifically, he has been investigating the technology transfer activities of foreign firms, with the aim of establishing whether the activities of foreign firms are associated with technology transfer. His other research activities involve being part of a research team at SOAS investigating the benefits of fair trade activities of coffee and flower plantations in Uganda and Ethiopia. The research aims to investigate the impact on employment and poverty as a result of fair trade in those countries. He has previously worked in Ghana on several research projects, such as the NEPAD African Peer Review Mechanism, UNDP and Ghana Private Enterprise Foundation Yearly Review of Budgets assessing the impact on the private sector, and an ILO study on Child Labour in Ghana. His other interests include industrial development and growth in SSA, trade and international finance and its impact on developing countries, and agricultural development and poverty reduction in SSA.
